Kai Blamey Nguyen — Cinematographer & Photographer

About

Born into an Anglo-French-Vietnamese family of artists, Kai initially studied Fine Art filmmaking before learning the craft from the ground up. Working closely with camera and lighting crews, he built a strong technical foundation, progressing through roles as an assistant and gaffer before establishing himself as a cinematographer—where his true vocation lies.

Alongside filmmaking, Kai is an accomplished stills photographer and dedicated student of film history. His influences span cultures and eras, drawing from figures such as Alex Webb, Wong Kar-wai, Khalik Allah, Jacques Tati, and Arthur Jafa.

His work combines social awareness, commercial sensibility, and a distinctive visual language into a cohesive whole—where diverse cultures, palettes, and perspectives actively enrich one another.
